Roulette at Online Casinos
Real Time Gaming
Real Time Gaming, or RTG, casino software is probably the most ubiquitous program operator for online casinos outside of Microgaming and Playtech. Unlike those two, however, most RTG casinos will allow Americans to play the real money casino games. Here is a quick look at the European Roulette game that is featured at most RTG online casinos.
The screenshot above is from the European roulette game at Slots.lv. The layout if very easy to understand. The only thing that will trick people at first is the way to place a bet. First, you can click on the Amount to bet per click and it will remove the current chip amount from the total. Then, click on the $1, $5, $25, or $100 chip to place it in the Amount to bet per click.
From there, you can click on any betting spot on the table and you will place this bet on that spot. This includes all single, double, street, corner, or line bet for any inside bets and the thirds and halves bets on the outside bets. There is also the "Neighbor" bets that are in a circle directly next to the inside bets. Betting on one of the numbers in the Neighbor bets basically means that you are going to bet on the marble to land on a slice of the roulette wheel as you are placing bets on that number and the two located directly next to it on the left and right of the wheel.
Once you have finished your betting, you can press the Spin button. You will see an animation of the ball going around the wheel. If you have a winning bet, the winnings will automatically be placed into your balance and the bets will remain on the table. You will also see the number appear in the history. The last 13 numbers will appear in this history before the numbers roll off and new numbers take their place.
If you lose your bets, you can replace them easily by clicking on the Repeat button. All of your previous bets will be placed on the same spot again. If you make a mistake with your betting, press the Clear button and you can start over again.
Rival Gaming Software
Unlike the European Roulette offered at Real Time Gaming online casinos, Rival Gaming's European Roulette is the simplest version of the game, differing
only from American Roulette by the absence of the double zero bet. As opposed to RTG, Rival Gaming Roulette does not offer Neighbor bets and certain betting
patterns characteristic of the French version. What you see on the table is exactly what you get.
That being said, at Rival Gaming online casinos, such as Davinci's Gold and Superior Casino, players have the option of making all inside and outside bets in the game of roulette. Bets are placed by first choosing a denomination (ranging from $1 to $50 in starter games). Left-click over the appropriate chip and then left-click in the board in the appropriate box corresponding to the bet you would like to make. The chip will be set on the table and the "Current Bet" amount will update in the stats screen. Click the "Spin" button and the ball will be sent rolling.
There is a separate zoom screen that shows which slot the ball settles in. Directly underneath this screen is a "Spin History" tab that drops down to show the last ten previous spin results in chronological order. The stats screen to the left of this displays the aforementioned "Current Bet" amount, table limits, as well as the most recent winning amount.
All balances are updated in real time. A rebet button is available if you would like to make the same bet over. If not, simply click on the table bets you would like to make and press the Spin button. Customizable playing options include game speed adjustment (slow, medium, fast) and turning the audio on or off. The casino games lobby, cashier, help mode and customizable options are all accessible from the playing screen.
As for payouts, they are what you find at any roulette table, ranging from 1:1 for red, black, odd, even, high and low bets up to payouts of 35:1 for any one number bets.
