American Roulette
Good old fashion roulette as people in the U.S. know it. Just in case you don't know, here are the basics. You can play this game for fun here
There are 38 numbers on the roulette wheel, along with 38 corresponding numbers on the roulette table. A ball will be spun around the wheel and will land on a number.
Bets can be placed on one or more of these numbers, as well as any of the other spots on the table that bet on a group of numbers. Depending on the odds of winning your bet, the payouts can go from 1 to 1 when betting on half of the numbers to 35 to 1 when betting on a single number.
If you are looking to play Roulette for real money, here is my suggestion for the best roulette casino for Americans. One of the things that I like about this site is that they are one of the few online casinos that offer a bonus that allows you to play Roulette. The game is excluded from more than 95% of the casino bonuses out there.
American Roulette Betting
Here's a brief overview of the roulette payouts that are won:
- Bet on 1 number - 35 to 1 payout
The only way to do this is to place a bet in the middle of one of the numbers on the table. - Bet on 2 numbers - 17 to 1 payout
You have to put a bet on the line between two numbers on the table. - Bet on 3 numbers - 11 to 1 payout
You can bet on a row of three numbers by placing your bet on the line at the edge of a row. The other way to bet on three numbers is to cover one or both of the zeros along with one or two numbers in the first row. - Bet on 4 numbers - 8 to 1 payout
The only way to bet on four numbers is to place a bet at the crossroads of four numbers on the roulette table. - Bet on 6 numbers - 5 to 1 payout
This can only be done by place a bet at the edge of two rows. The bet will be covering across the line of two rows. - Bet on 12 (1/3) numbers - 2 to 1 payout
There are two different ways to bet this. You can bet on one of the three 2 to 1 bets that cover the entire column or you can bet on the 1st 12, 2nd 12 or 3rd 12 spots on the board. - Bet on 18 (1/2) numbers - 1 to 1 payout
Betting on Red or Black, Even or Odd, and First 18 or Second 18 are all one to one bets.
Watch out for Zeros!
Make sure that you have the understanding about what the 0 and 00 represent. 0 and 00 are not Black or Red, Even or Odd, or any other bet that is not directly or partially on the 0 or 00.
Here's what a lot of people will do to try to avoid losing all of a bet on the ball landing on a zero. They will put a small fraction of their overall bet on the border of 0 and 00. This way if it comes up, your entire bet will not be lost.
If you can manage to save half of your bet one time by doing this, you will not only save yourself some money, but almost be assured (or at least comfortable) that the next 10 bets or so will not be a 0 or 00.
